Day one...
So many of you Utahnns may know about the Ragnar... but many of you may not so were going to give you a little background. The Wasatch Back (Utah's) Ragnar is an overnight running relay that reaches from Logan to Park City, Utah approximately 192 miles. Each person competes on a team of 6- 12 people each person running 3-6 legs of the race and each leg is between 3-7 miles long of outdoor terrain. Our race will take place on June 20th through the 21st so feel free to come support we have around 22 weeks to prepare for this race so it will be quite a challenge. I'm sure you are all wondering the we I keep referring to so let us introduce ourselves... of course many of you already know me (Jayden) and my teammate doing this blog with me is Hailey Miller. We met at Utah State where we both currently attend school and instantly became friends, we are both freaking awesome, and love to have fun no matter what we are doing. So let us introduce ourselves a little better.
Hailey: My name is Hailey Miller; I’m currently a student at Utah State University. I’ve known Jayden Coates for about 5 months now, and she is undoubtedly my best friend down here at college. We decided to document this journey we are starting, and what better way to accomplish that than a blog? So we are going to blogging about our training, our diet, and eventually our run! It’s going to be extremely tough…but we have each other for support and more importantly discipline. My run will be 15.3 miles altogether. Today was our first day of training and dieting: Traded in the burger and Dr. Pepper, for a sandwich on wheat and low fat milk. Later that night, after a body sculpting class, I was bound and determined to start our training. Jayden and I ran 15 minutes on the treadmill. It felt a lot better than I thought it would, but I definitely got my butt kicked! I got in about 1.7 miles and am looking forward to the physical and emotional benefits of our journey! Thanks Jayden for doing this with me!
Jayden: Hey many of you already know me but for those who don't my name is Jayden Coates. Like we mentioned earlier I'm a student at Utah State University majoring in Agricultural Education. and like we mentioned earlier I met Hailey up here at school and since then she has become one of my best friends. I was born and raised in Tooele, Utah I went to Tooele High School where I played golf and participated in FFA. I have absolutely no running experience other than running away from mad cows or horses or my little brothers so this will be a new adventure for me! The reason i'm doing this is just to say that I did the Ragnar to cross it off my bucket list so to speak. I'm quite excited for the physical and mental challenges of this but also very nervous altogether I will run 14.6 miles. Tonights run was hard I hadn't ran like that since October so it was rough... I wanted to quit about half way through... tonight we ran 15 minutes I ran about 1.5 miles in that time. It was pretty rough especially cause i'm not feeling to hot today but overall I felt great when I was done.
Like Hailey mentioned we wanted to start this blog to document our journey, our struggles, our diet and training, or run, and most importantly we wanted to use this to inspire others to accomplish their goals despite how hard they may be!!
Till next time...
Hailey and Jayden!
